Abstract

Social development is a crucial aspect of early childhood education, as it enables children to build relationships, cooperate with others, and understand social values. Early childhood is a sensitive period when children begin to learn social skills such as sharing, taking turns, helping others, and communicating effectively. Therefore, teachers play an important role in providing stimulating environments that foster social interaction. This study aims to examine how alphabet block media can be used to enhance the social development of children at TK Negeri Pembina Socah. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to describe the process and outcomes of using alphabet blocks as a medium for social learning. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving teachers and students. The findings reveal that the use of alphabet block media effectively encourages children to collaborate during play activities, communicate ideas, and build friendships through shared learning experiences. The learning process with alphabet blocks provides opportunities for children to express opinions, negotiate roles, and practice patience while waiting for their turn. Moreover, teachers reported that the media helped reduce individualistic behavior and increased cooperative attitudes among students. The results indicate that alphabet block media not only supports cognitive and language growth but also significantly contributes to children’s social-emotional development. Thus, integrating alphabet block activities into early childhood learning can be an effective strategy to improve social competence and foster positive interactions among young learners.
