Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has significantly influenced early childhood education practices, particularly in the integration of digital media to support cognitive development. This study aims to describe the implementation of digital-based learning at Bhakti 2 Kindergarten, identify challenges encountered during its application, and examine the evaluation methods used to assess children’s cognitive development. A qualitative field research design was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The data were analyzed thematically using source, method, and time triangulation to ensure trustworthiness. The findings reveal that the use of Smart TV as a digital learning medium enhances children’s learning motivation, attention, and concentration, while also supporting the development of logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and basic conceptual understanding through interactive learning activities. However, several challenges remain, including limited internet connectivity and disparities in teachers’ digital literacy and technical skills. Children’s cognitive development was evaluated based on the Daily Lesson Plan using four developmental categories: Not Yet Developed, Emerging, Developed as Expected, and Very Well Developed. This study provides empirical insights into the use of digital media in early childhood education and offers practical implications for other early childhood institutions seeking to implement effective, relevant, and child-centered digital learning practices.
