Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of art and creativity among early childhood learners in Group B at TK Muslihat Siti Khotijah, Bangkalan Regency. Art and creativity are essential aspects of early childhood development as they contribute to enhancing fine motor, cognitive, socio-emotional, and imaginative abilities. The research employed a qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study included the class B3 teacher, the assistant teacher, and one six-year-old student.  The findings indicate that children’s artistic development is generally at a good level, as reflected in their ability to recognize shapes, colors, and sounds, as well as produce simple artworks such as drawings, coloring, clay modeling, and origami crafts. Based on Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, most children were found to be in the preoperational stage, characterized by the ability to identify basic colors, understand simple shapes, and follow instructions in art activities. However, some children still required additional guidance to improve coordination between shape, color, and composition in their artworks. The results highlight the crucial role of teachers in providing stimulation and diverse art activities—such as drawing, playing music, and singing—to foster motivation and creativity. Interactive and enjoyable art-based learning has been shown to enhance creativity, self-confidence, and expressive abilities in early childhood, allowing children to explore and communicate their ideas more freely and imaginatively.
